Dr. Sargent has been a professor of psychology at Lee University since Fall 2005 and served as the Chair of the Department of Behavioral & Social Sciences for 13 years.
He received his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and a Master of Science in Human Environmental Sciences from the University of Alabama. He received his Master of Arts in Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and his Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Lee College (now Lee University).

She and her husband planted the Open Door Community Church in Northern Kentucky, where they pastored for 12 years before pastoring Bethalto Church of God in Illinois for 10 years.
